About Oregon Criminal History

Oregon criminal records are divided among statewide and local custodians. Oregon State Police CJIS maintains the central history repository, Oregon courts keep case files, the Department of Corrections tracks state custody, and the Oregon Sex Offender Online Search publishes a limited registry subset. Sheriffs, local police, jails, and courts in all 36 counties hold the source records they create. Oregon Criminal History helps readers choose the right official system or county office without treating those distinct records as one database.

Why We Built This Site

Public access in Oregon depends on knowing who created the record. Oregon State Police, Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division compiles fingerprint-supported arrest cycles and reported outcomes. The Oregon Department of Corrections maintains state-prison information, while Oregon courts organize filings and judgments by case. Local arrests, bookings, jail rosters, reports, and most original case materials stay with county or city offices. We built Oregon Criminal History to map those boundaries and provide practical routes to statewide sources. When a record remains local, the county directory leads to the relevant county site and its local contacts, access channels, and fee information.

What We Cannot Do

Oregon Criminal History is a privately run reference site with no connection to an Oregon court, sheriff, police department, or state agency. That means our role has firm limits:

  • We cannot issue a certified court document, criminal history, or rap sheet
  • We cannot submit a set-aside motion, public-record request, or other filing for a visitor
  • We cannot interpret a charge or case as legal advice
  • We cannot perform an official background check or retrieve a record for someone
  • We cannot promise that an agency's address, fee, telephone number, or process has not changed

An official copy must come from Oregon State Police CJIS, the court, or the local office that created and maintains the source record. We can identify the likely custodian, but cannot provide the document.
