Terms of Use

These conditions govern every visit to Oregon Criminal History. Accessing a page, reading its content, or using a search tool means the visitor agrees to the terms below. Anyone who does not agree should stop using the website.

NO FCRA USE. Oregon Criminal History is privately owned and has no affiliation with a government body. Neither the website nor its advertising partners offers a service for credit, employment, tenant, or insurance screening, or any other purpose governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). It is a reference resource, not a private investigation firm or consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site, independent of every Oregon government office. We do not keep official criminal records, submit filings, retrieve records, or perform official background checks.

Our role is to direct readers to Oregon State Police CJIS, the Oregon Department of Corrections, the Oregon Sex Offender Online Search, state courts, and local offices in Oregon's 36 counties, as well as outside tools that may assist lawful research. Public agency records are governed by the Oregon Public Records Law, ORS 192.311 through 192.478, while OSP's limited name-based criminal-history disclosure follows ORS 181A.230 and 181A.245. Those laws do not make this private site an official custodian.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Visitors agree not to:

  • Use automated scraping tools, bots, or similar processes against the pages
  • Interfere with service or prevent others from using it
  • Attempt unauthorized access to any system or account
  • Use site information to threaten, stalk, or harass a person
  • Use the content for a hiring, housing, lending, or insurance decision
  • Violate a federal, Oregon, or local law while using the website

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

No visitor may use information found here or through a linked tool to intimidate, threaten, stalk, harass, or discriminate against a person. Such conduct may also violate the law. The Oregon Sex Offender Online Search expressly warns against punishment and harassment, and misuse may lead to criminal prosecution or civil action. Registry information serves community-safety awareness. It does not authorize vigilantism, employment blacklisting, or housing discrimination.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

Oregon Criminal History is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA. We do not create consumer reports, credit reports, or background checks. Our advertising partners and this website do not offer services intended to evaluate applicants, renters, insurance risk, or credit. Information from these pages or a linked tool must not be used to:

  • Make another decision regulated by the FCRA
  • Determine eligibility for a license, permit, or public benefit
  • Set insurance terms or assess creditworthiness
  • Evaluate a rental or housing applicant
  • Make a hiring or termination decision

A check for a regulated purpose must come from an authorized official channel or an FCRA-compliant screening provider, with all required consent and process.

5. No Legal Advice

Website content is general information, not legal advice. It cannot determine how an Oregon charge, conviction, warrant, or set-aside rule applies to a specific person. Seek advice from an Oregon-licensed attorney for an individual legal question.

6. No Warranties

All content and functions are supplied "as is." We make no promise that:

  • An outside search provider's results will be complete or correct
  • Every page will be free from bugs, errors, or security defects
  • The service will always be available without interruption
  • Information will be current, complete, or accurate at every moment

Oregon records change when cases are filed or dismissed, judgments are entered, and eligible matters are set aside. Updates and gaps are unavoidable. No page should be read as an official statement from Oregon State Police, a court, a sheriff, or another agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links lead to Oregon agencies, court services, county offices, legal-aid groups, and commercial search providers. We do not control a destination's content, availability, data practices, or fees and accept no responsibility for them. Review the destination's own terms before use.

8. Intellectual Property

Oregon Criminal History or its content partners own the site's text, graphics, logos, and code. Copying, distributing, adapting, or building on that material requires prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, we are not liable for harm arising from use of the website, including action taken in reliance on site content or a linked service.

10. Indemnification

A visitor agrees to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, demands, or proceedings caused by that visitor's use of the site or violation of these terms, including related legal costs.

11. Governing Law

Oregon law governs these terms. Any dispute arising from use of Oregon Criminal History must be brought in a court located in Oregon.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these terms. A revised version takes effect when it is posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be restricted or terminated at any time, for any reason, without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms continue in force. The affected provision will be limited only as much as necessary to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these conditions may be directed through the Contact page.
